FSK Decoder




FSK (Frequency-Shift-Keying) is the most used digital radio transmission It is used on pagers (Pocsag), airplanes (ACARS), FMS, ... also at contactless smartcards and various other radio transmission applications.

MAKInterface Pro does possess a integrated Hamcom compatible FSK Decoder, with the opportunity to invert the data signal (Jumper DET inv), and to setup the line to which the data should be taken to (Jumper det=cts, det=dsr, det=dcd). External power supply is not required.

FSK describes the modulation of a carrier (or two carriers) by using a different frequency for a 1 or 0. The resultant modulated signal may be regarded as the sum of two amplitude modulated signals of different carrier frequency.

For best results, it is required to tap the discriminator output from the scanner / radio.

Not only with professional equipment, but for example using WinFLEX, even with handheld Ham radios and scanners (discriminator outputs from a FT50, VX5R, IC-Q7, IC-R2 and AR8000) it is possible to get 100% error-free POCSAG data decoding even after 24 hours monitoring.
